I have one BIG announcement.

Whenever I sit down to write, I like to have a plan. So here is mine, which I do enjoy. Of course, you most likely have a plan already, or want to make your own. However, if you don't, feel free to use mine!

• Get coffee, tea, hot cocoa, cider, ect. 
• Check my email (I get most of my brainstorming ideas from this)
• Mis. like adding to my name collection, or writing a poem.
• Adding to my character sketches. This is basically interviewing my character.
• Writing in my book. (I like getting at least two pages in a good day)
• Editing a friend's story (though this may not be applicable to everyone, I find it helpful)

I love listening to music while I write. I even have a chart saying what music I like to listen to for what part. I know you might be wondering what song would be good just to start writing. Here are some of my favorites:

• Let It Be by Beatles
• Hey Jude by Beatles
• Tron Soundtrack by Daft Punk (note: this can get REALLY repetitive)
• Into The West by Annie Lennox (Lord of the Rings)

Just make your own list, and you can really make a change in your writing.

Yes, I know what you're thinking. I thought this was a blog where you gave us advice?! Yes, it is. But I need some advice, so just stick with me and please give me your honest opinion!

    Slowly Saphire sliped the silver salamander to Sam. Sam, in return, gave a slight nod, then lept from his chair, making a wild dash for the end of the endless hallway in which they were entraped. However, he was cut off halfway by the fearsome henchmen of Hood. Making an attempt to grab the silver salamander from him, but only clung on to his shirtsleeve, tearing it to shreads in frustration. While they were so preocupied, Saphire had crept past them, to join Sam running to the door. "Were cut off!" She wispered, eyeing the bodygaurds aprihensively as they ran. "They locked the door behind us when we came in. We won't get out of here before Hood finds us!" Out of the darkness they were going through, came a terrible beast. One with glaring crimson eyes, like blood, and a nostril as big as a head, breathing down at them from a massive hight of 14 feet, crouched the Hood. "Not trying to escape, are you?" It said in raspy sort of wisper, as though he hadn't had a cup of water in a very long time.
    Can you feel the suspense? Are you on the edge of your seat? Biting your nails and does it end there!? What happens to Sam and Saphire? Suspense is a writer's best friend. Have it, and your reader will keep on reading, but without it, it is like a old fish. Smelly to the nose, slimy to the touch.

    There are some fun, and easy ways to start writing, even if you think you do not have a clue how, or what, to write. Even if you have written for years, and are confident in what you should write, read on. This is fun, and while you are doing this, you might just grow in your joy of writing!

    To start getting ideas for your writing, go through facts, brainstorm, doodle, and/or pick out some nice notebooks, pens or pencils, and erasers. When you want to write, you can think of more things to write about then when you make yourself write!

    If you have a favorite spot, either in your house or outside your house, think about using it as a place to write. Some people prefer to write around crowds, while others prefer to write in a quiet place. Once you find that place, you may find it easier to write when you know when you go to that place, that that is where you write. In fact, whenever you go you may find yourself itching to pull out that notebook and pen!

    Once you have those key aspects figured out, find a time to write. Every day that you can manage, go to that place and write for a set amount of time. Write for at least the amount of time you set, but you can always write more. I know a lot of people prefer to write when they are calm. If you like writing while calm, try having a scented candle, or a hot drink while you write.

    What writing materials do you prefer? Pen, pencil, quill, or computer? What do you feel is the most comfortable? The best for you and your lifestyle? Pens can come in a lot of cool colors, and there is all sorts of different styes. If you like pencils, do you prefer mechanical pencils, or the normal wooden ones? And if you prefer computers, you can use different fonts, colors, and sizes to fit your personality. For most of us, quills are not the best choice, but if you are one of those people who can access them, they can be quite cool. Of course, if you chose to use the computer, it is always good to have a notebook to jot things down if you have no access to a computer.

    Once you figure out those things, you are pretty much set to go. Just remember that writing is a great journey, one that never really end.
